About Ellen Fleming

A native of Kingston, Ontario, after graduating from high school, Ellen earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Waterloo, then she moved to Toronto where she worked as an administrative assistant at a variety of workplaces: government ministries and agencies, professional services, law firms, regulatory agencies, etc. for over 25 years. She currently lives in Kingston.

A Difficult Childhood

Ellen brings to her seminars all the wisdom and knowledge gained through her own healing and spiritual development journey. As an adult child of an alcoholic Anglican priest and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by a neighbour, Ellen experienced most of the common symptoms of PTSD from the greater and lesser traumas of her childhood: bouts of severe depression, very low self‑esteem, repetitive nightmares, problems with concentration and memory, dissociation, flashbacks, triggers, fears, difficulties with intimacy and trust, and compulsive eating.
Ellen is a survivor of two suicide attempts, one in her mid-teens in high school, and one in her early twenties at university, and she has also mourned the loss of two friends and two extended family members who died by suicide.

Journey of Healing

Ellen's journey of healing began in her mid-twenties when she started attending Adult Children of Alcoholics meetings in Toronto, a 12-step program, on a regular basis for over two years. As part of her recovery work, Ellen read many books related to healing and recovery for adult children of alcoholics and survivors of childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief and bereavement, near-death experiences, and life after death.

Ellen processed, released, and healed her traumas through counselling, writing, acupuncture, zen shiatsu, massage therapy, anti-depressant medication, physical exercise (running and light weight training), listening to music, daily walks outside, prayer and meditation, recording positive affirmations to heal her low self-esteem and feelings of worthlessness from her childhood, eating a balanced diet with proper nutrition, and many, many tears.
She also had countless experiences of the grace of God which supported her when she felt like she did not have the strength to make it through the more painful and difficult parts of her healing journey.

Vision of Jesus and Spiritual Development
In 1993, after six years of recovery work, at age 32, Ellen experienced a profound mystical vision of Jesus while listening to a guided meditation tape, and her life would never be the same again.
Over the following decades, Ellen experienced a long and at times very arduous period of Christian spiritual development that involved developing a daily practice of prayer and meditation, the purification of the classic Christian dark night of the soul, and learning how to receive, interpret, and obey spiritual guidance from God and the angels.

Spiritual Warfare

Ellen also experienced a lot of spiritual warfare and demonic harassment for many years after the vision of Jesus. Demonic attacks took place spiritually, emotionally, and physically, and through other people in the form of bullying, lies, betrayals, and rejection.
She also endured relentless demonic attacks against her finances. This created seasons of deep poverty which resulted in food insufficiency, bankruptcy, an exasperating inability to get and keep jobs because of demonic interference, and a brief period of homelessness and living in a shelter. In 1 Corinthians 4:11, St. Paul references being homeless. It is a very stressful and debilitating thing to go through, but God took care of her during that difficult time in her life.

Blessed with the spiritual gift of discernment of spirits, Ellen senses the presence of demons and angels from time to time, and she can also hear them speaking to her from time to time.

A Healing Success Story

From severe PTSD, through dark nights of the soul, through to the dawning of light, hope and forgiveness, Ellen has charted a course which has brought her to that elusive place of acceptance of the past and all its sufferings, and peace and intimacy with God, which so many survivors of trauma and loss, and spiritual seekers yearn to reach.
In general, she has very good mental and physical health. It has been many years since she has experienced depression or symptoms of PTSD. From time to time she experiences fatigue and anxiety as a result of all the spiritual warfare but aside from that, she has achieved an inspirational level of wellbeing.
Despite all she has gone through, Ellen is a cheerful, kind, positive person with a good sense of humour. Through her seminars, Ellen brings a message of hope and faith to all those who struggle not only with healing and spiritual development, but with the meaning of their lives and their relationship with God as a result of their experiences and the challenges the world is currently facing.
